Why merge with FC Blazers...
Unlike most highly successful soccer clubs in MA, the FC Blazers are committed to developing one team per age bracket. Darby FC is similarly committed to it's players (read the section entitled "Where Have All The Smaller Clubs Gone") and hope that by merging with the FC Blazers we can exceed the tremendous success we've already attained.
Darby FC's developmental philosophy...
Even though Darby FC was created to develop Franklin residents and positively influence soccer specifically within that town, more and more players from surrounding towns are being added to our rosters because of our growing, positive reputation. Not only are our teams having great success in MAPLE but the kids are also developing beautifully and showing signs of becoming great skill players.
Our philosophy is simple. We believe that a child should be able to go down to the local field and play. That way, all of his or her time is spent touching the ball and very little of your time & money is spent driving. As one might imagine, there are very few players that develop the foot skills necessary to take their game to the next level while traveling in a car, to and from practice.
We train twice per week and each training session is focused, dynamic, challenging and fun. We play once per week on Sunday and each game will be focused on your childs development. Our goal is to make your child confident and prepared to take players on. Once your child has achieved a certain level of skill you'll begin to see the game for what it really is -- magnificent.
Where Have All The Smaller Clubs Gone? |
Why are so many clubs merging these days? The answer's simple. They'd rather achieve overnight success by combining teams than developing players for the long haul. Think about it. When clubs combine, the middle tier players get relegated to a lower team and the lower tier players get cut. Darby FC is proud not to be one of those clubs. If you're affiliated with one of these "merging" or "ever expanding" clubs, and could possibly find yourself displaced -- come to our tryouts! Although we're small, Darby FC is competing at the highest level of competition. In 2010 Spring MAPLE, the GU12 team played Blue (D1 equivalent). In 2010 Fall MAPLE, the GU13 team finished 3rd in D2 (nudged out of 2nd by GF). In 2011 Spring MAPLE, the GU13 team finished 4th in D2. |
